The industry started up in the beginning of the 1660’s and was laid down in 1974. Several of the old buildings are preserved. Today Bærums Verk consists of a total of 80 shops or small enterprises in the old buildings. Some of the most popular attractions are Ovnsmuseet (Iron Works Museum), Bærum kunsthåndverk (arts and crafts), Verthuset (gourmet restaurant), The Johan-Fredrik Arntzen gallery, Galleri Kunstværket (art gallery) and Stabburskapellet (The Storehouse Chapel).
